Quintet features some of the best female jazz musicians in and around London. And on request, the ensemble may also feature the sensational vocalist, Sumudu.

Sumudu, a natural performer and composer, made her television debut at the age of 15 on the BBC Pebble Mill’s A Song For Christmas, performing one of her own compositions. Sumudu performed as a soloist on Millennium Eve at the Millennium Dome and is currently working on her first album with Grammy Award winning producer, Kipper (of Sting fame), and British jazz piano legend, Jason Rebello.

Quintet is a unique band. Not only is it an all-female ensemble, but, all the music performed has been specially arranged to feature the individual players in the group. The musicians featured arise from a contrasting spectrum of musical backgrounds: Yazz not only performs regularly with a variety of Britain’s top jazz musicians, such as Kenny Wheeler, Lawrence Cottle, and the London Jazz Orchestra, but can also be heard with the likes of pop and rock artists such as Radiohead, Jack Penate, and reggae legends Max Romeo and Lee ‘Scratch’ Perry.

I Get A Kick Out Of You I Get A Kick Out Of You

Moon Alley Moon Alley

The Sidewinder The Sidewinder

I Got You Under My Skin I Got You Under My Skin

Straight No Chaser Straight No Chaser

Josephine frequently performs with artists such as Jamie Cullum, Georgie Fame and the Ronnie Scott’s Vanguard Band. Josephine was the winner of the Perrier Young Jazz Ensemble Award (1999), with a quintet led by trumpeter Tom Allen.

Naadia has toured across Europe with The Rat Pack, has been featured as a soloist with the New English Orchestra, and has played with many British jazz musicians such as Alan Barnes and Steve Waterman.

Charlie has studied with some of the world’s best bass players, Jeff Clyne, Steve Watts and Omar Puente for example. Charlie regularly performs in Salsa parties, swing dances, rock bands, including Charlotte Hatherley (formerly of Ash), as well as contemporary classical concerts.

Sophie has toured with Roots Manuva, and has played with jazz greats such as Stan Sulzman, Julian Joseph, George Melly, and Mornington Lockett.

Quintet performs an extensive repertoire. As well as popular jazz numbers from artists such as Diana Krall, Jamie Cullum, Glenn Miller, and Frank Sinatra, Quintet also writes jazz arrangements of well known pop tunes from The Beatles, Amy Winehouse, and Stevie Wonder for example, and of Classical composers such as Bach or Elgar. The group can arrange any particular piece of music in advance at the client’s request.

This spectacular group of musicians is available for parties, weddings, corporate events, dinners, and as background music.

Great female Jazz vocalist Ella is ideal for your wedding, corporate event or dinner party. Specialising in easy listening, background Jazz with also some up-tempo numbers to dance to. This will add a little variety to your event.

Client Comments
“Definitely an up-and coming Jazz Singer, who can swing through standards, yet has a distinctive and highly expressive way with a ballad. Excellent band too, featuring some of the most promising players on the northern scene” – Jazz UK

“Ella opts for a nicely-judged programme of standards, to which she brings vitality and warmth, even at the slowest tempos. In pianist Rob Barron she has found the ideal accompanist, alongside bassist Tom Farmer and drummer Chris Walmsley. Guitarist Martin Kolarides contributes notable solos. Ella’s cheerful skip through ‘Joyspring’ just about sums it up” – Jazz UK

“A good Vocalist, who is reminiscent of Anita Wardell” – Jazzwise

“A great Jazz Singer – Lovely tone and phrasing” – Claire

“Ella has the magic of a great Jazz Singer”- Trudy

Coining the style “Neo-Swing /Jazz”, the essence is the driving piano and Esther’s sultry tones, echoing of a retro era with modern, sleek production.

Her dramatic demeanour draws inspiration from vintage pin-up models, bucking the trend with burlesque inspired attire and classic, vintage style.

A classically trained musician since the age of four, Esther was quick to develop a flair for music and song writing. Her family fed her enthusiasm for music, nurturing her exploration of different musical styles.

However, it is within the 1930s style venues, which attract only the crème de la crème of retro scenesters, that Miss Esther feels most at home and allows her inner glamour kitten to pour out onto the stage.

Esther joined the star-studded line-up for American impresario David Gest’s UK tour, befriending and worked alongside an array of inspiring musicians including; The Temptations, Percy Sledge, Billy Paul, and Ben E King. “I got to showcase my music to all these artists – all showering me with rave reviews”

As a known singer and style icon, Esther has featured in many streams of media, film, television and magazines, denoting her steady rise to fame.

She has worked with top music industry mogul, Marvin Marshall, whose artist roster includes Michael Jackson, Lady Gaga, and Stevie Wonder.

Having come a considerable way in just four petite years. Esther has sung on tour with high calibre artists, and her music has dazzled across the globe, Esther is unwaveringly carving her name into the music scene.

Quotes
“Your music will one day be on Broadway… You’re very talented on the piano”- Chris Arnold, The Temptations (“My Girl”)
