They basically run things. As such, they’ve had literal boatloads of
high & mighty guest designers, including Spike Lee, Travis Barker, Gym
Class Heroes, Fat Joe, Dizzy Rascal, and Jake Burton. We’d like you to
add to their catalogue, so we’re opening a competition to give you the
chance.

Alongside super cool sneaker shop Footasylum we want you to get
involved and design your own New Era 59FIFTY fitted cap. The winning
design will become a Footasylum exclusive, sold throughout the UK.
We’re also offering two runners up 12 pieces of their own design.

Splash Point Music

Tuesday, October 7th, 2008

A VERY exciting autumn is in full swing for Splash Point Music:
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-  The 15-second Summary… -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

Liane: CD and DVD sold out; Ronnie Scott’s this week; Scottish Tour with Brian Kellock; Opening London Jazz Festival at Barbican (14/11/08)

Sue: Returns to gigging after Oscar’s birth!; Albert Hall gig sold out; Humphrey Lyttelton Tribute gig triumph; London Jazz Festival gig 20/11/08 City Inn; plays trumpet on Ian Shaw single.

Splash Point presents… “Old New Borrowed Blue” show in London Jazz Festival at Royal Opera House (16/11/08) and Blackheath Concert Halls (21/11/08) starring Ian Shaw and special guests.

Humph Tribute single by Ian Shaw feat. Sue Richardson to be released at London Jazz Festival

Splash Point Publishing: Now over 20 writers signed and deals worldwide

Neal Richardson: plays at Westminster and booked to play for HM The Queen!
-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-  The 60-second Detail…..! -*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-*-

LIANE CARROLL
After an amazing summer of gigs from Brecon to Norway, Liane is embarking on a Scottish Tour with Scotland’s finest virtuoso jazz pianist Brian Kellock. Already hailed in the press as “British jazz’s finest ever double act”, the Tour will yield a joint album to be recorded live at The Blue Lamp, Aberdeen and released in 2009 on Splash Point Records, produced by Neal Richardson.
STOP PRESS! Liane is also appearing at Ronnie Scott’s this week (6-8 Oct);
Her vocal trio group “The Passion” finally released their long-awaited album in the summer, with Jacqui Dankworth and Sara Colman.
“Slow Down”, Liane’s current CD launched in September ‘07, is the fastest-selling Liane CD ever released and is already on its 2nd pressing!
In the meantime the gorgeous DVD “Liane Live” (launched Feb 2008) has been very well received worldwide, underlining Liane’s status as “Jazz Musician of the Year 2008″ as voted in the APPJAG Awards.
www.lianecarroll.com

SUE RICHARDSON
Sue seems to have hit the ground running since returning to gigs post-maternity leave. First there was her standing-room-only gig as part of the Albert Hall’s Ignite series; then playing on Ian Shaw’s version of Humphrey Lyttelton’s “Sad Sweet Song”;
As a result, Sue was invited by Humph’s band to join them for a big Tribute gig in Swansea last Sunday (5/10/08), compered by Radio 4’s Brian Perkins . This was a huge honour for Sue, and the capacity-crowd concert was a delightful, respectful celebration of Humph’s music :-)  Sue has been booked to join the band again at a concert at the Bull’s Head in Barnes (Date TBC).
STOP PRESS!  Sue will be signing copies TODAY 7/10/08 of her groundbreaking album “Emergence” at Ray’s Jazz (Foyles) in London, and playing a short set with her Trio before jetting off to play in Holland, and her Quintet will be playing London’s Spice of Life on 12/11/08.
Having played at last year’s London Jazz Festival, Sue has been booked again for this year’s, appearing at the City Inn on 20/11/08 (John Islip Street, Westminster); She is also one of the stars in the Old New Borrowed Blue show in the Festival.
www.suerichardson.biz

OLD NEW BORROWED BLUE
Starring Ian Shaw, Sue Richardson, Tammy Weis and Nicola Emmanuelle (all signed to Splash Point Publishing), a brand new Song show written + presented jointly by pianists Neal Richardson and Alex Webb. In conjunction with Serious, the show will be presented at the Floral Hall (Royal Opera House) 16/11/08,  and Blackheath Concert Halls 21/11/08.   Along the lines of Norman Granz’s legendary “Jazz at the Philharmonic” Tours, this is a great chance to see a whole smorgasbord of performers in one place at one time, with the songs forming a narrative along the theme of Old New Borrowed Blue(s)!

IAN SHAW:  “HUMPH” TRIBUTE SINGLE
Yep it’s true, Splash Point Records will release its first download-only single at November’s London Jazz Festival. It’s a beautiful melancholy ballad written by Humph called “Sad Sweet Song”, that the late great man had specifically asked Ian to record… Ian recorded the song at Splash Point studios, and invited Sue Richardson to play trumpet on it in tribute to Humph. As a result it was performed at the BBC Jazz Awards in July, and the recording prompted Humph’s band to invite Sue to gig with them.
The single will be launched at the Old, New, Borrowed, Blue Show and it’ll be available on all providers worldwide (iTunes etc.) from 21st Nov. - please look out for it!  We’re also delighted that Ian is now signed to Splash Point Publishing - listen to his beautiful current album “Lifejacket” on www.IanShaw.biz  The album includes the stunning duet with Liane Carroll “42″ - which we think should be a number 1!

SPLASH POINT PUBLISHING
… celebrates signing its 20th writer!  We are becoming known as the de facto Publisher for the cream of British Jazz writers/performers, including Liane Carroll, Ian Shaw, Sue Richardson, Andy Drudy, John Donaldson, Tammy Weis,  David Hentschel, Clement Regert (album out 13/10/08), Alex Webb, Nicola Emmanuelle, David Preston, David Gordon, Arden Hart, Jamie Salisbury…. ;  PRS, gig and overseas royalties are being successfully chased worldwide, with licensing deals placing music from Japan to Hollywood; and even up in the skies on in-flight entertainment channels!

NEAL RICHARDSON
As well as being the “he to whom the mud sticks” of Splash Point Music Ltd, and being Sue’s pianist, Neal has been doing his usual series of Quartet gigs - not least at this year’s Finals for the Lawn Tennis Association - and played at Westminster for a dinner with speaker Nick Clegg;   Neal presented another month of his weekly jazz radio show “live” on SeahavenFM.com during it’s summer broadcast… among his guests was Radio 3 Jazz Line-up reviewer Phil Jackson;  Neal’s Quartet have been booked to play for HM The Queen in 2010!  You can catch his duo live every Tuesday at Food For Friends in Brighton.  And yes, new addition little Oscar was named after Messrs Peterson, Hammerstein and Wilde :-)
As ever, all our products can be ordered direct from us at www.splashpointrecords.com or your favourite record shop.  Thanks for reading (and listening)…. without you it’d be a bit of a lonely job!

Hope to see you at some of those gigs - come and say “hi”, tell your friends, buy a CD/DVD, bring a pineapple… :-)

Best Regards

Hi there,

I’m extremely happy to announce my forthcoming three-night engagement at Pizza on the Park – October 16th, 17th & 18th.

Jive Aces Events

Saturday, August 23rd, 2008

Festivals
The Jive Aces have been storming across Europe performing at dozens of festivals this Summer (with several still to go!) including Glastonbury for the first time, an sensational fifth year at Montreux Jazz and a packed main stage gig at the Innocent Village Fete. Check out some of the pics on the right. I’ll be putting together a slide show when the season is finished of all the crazy action so watch this space.
Stories From The Golden Age
You may have been wondering what all that nonsense was earlier in the year when we sent out pictures of the band dressed as pirates. Well, the reason is, even though we are still about to release the new album, “Recipe For Rhythm”, we have actually recorded another album based on 1930’s and 40’s pulp fiction stories. The album, called “Amazing Adventures” will be released in the US first and then the UK but we are releasing the first two songs as a single on iTunes and other download sites in the in the iTunes USA store in September.
Mini USA Tour
In September we’ll be returning to the USA for a couple of weeks taking in some places we have been recently such as LA, Phoenix, DC, San Diego and Sacramento but also some places we have not been to for some time including San Francisco, Philadelphia and New York City. Check the schedule below for the dates and forward them on to anyone you know in those cities.
Summertime Swing
Summertime Swing was a massive success with over 1200 people packing Saint Hill Manor terrace and gardens. All our guests were amazing the legendary Keely Smith, the fabulous Kenny Ball, Craig Douglas, Toni Elizabeth Prima, Keith Ball, Crazy Jay, Andy Cooper, the Hollywood Hoppers and DJ Terry Elliot’s Sentimental Journey (who’s been with us since the first year).
Stop Press!
The band is now mid a four week non-stop run of shows, mainly festivals, around Europe. Firstly the Sildajazz Festival in Norway (where the band went straight after Summertime Swing) by popular demand for 4 nights at the festival’s top venue for the sixth year running, as well a special show at the football stadium. Then it was straight to Edinburgh for the Fringe where we played 3 days at the “City” Club, with some great reviews and a fourth night added due to ticket demand. Then down to Bridlington at the beautifully rennovated Spa before jetting back to Italy for a show to 4000 people at the Summer Jamboree festival in Senagalia, Italy. And this weekend it’s Twinwood Festival and Big River Blues & Jazz in Belfast!
Blogs

with some interesting stories and pics so check it out HERE.
Facebook
If you are on Facebook, you can keep up with the band in a couple of ways, we have both a Facebook Group and secondly we have a Facebook Page where you can become a “fan”. Click on the above links to join both, go on you know you want to!
Here are a few choice pics from Summertime Swing but check out the online gallery for more by clicking HERE. There are still more to come in so check back soon.

Hello everybody, hope you are having a nice summer.
I will be presenting my trio plus one at Smoke NY, and also my new instrument, gaita Gallega (Galician bagpipe), after been almost 2 year looking for a second instrument, I have started to study it last week, many things I have to learn about gaita, but I am ready to learn more and more about it…. so bring it on.

Victor Prieto. “A fiendishly skilled accordionist and composer” ….”An effervescent improviser”….”A dynamic jazz accordionist”
The New York Times (Chinen)
Victor Prieto now makes a most compelling case for the accordion as a primary jazz instrument on Persistencia. Yet this is not just a showcase of just Prieto’s brilliance, but also a view of an extremely taut trio with two other fine musicians.
All About Jazz By Mark F. Turner

Prieto has raised the bar on what is possible on the accordion. His intensity and delight penetrate all barriers.
The New York Post

Prieto plays accordion the way Toots Thielmans plays harmonica or Dino Saluzzi plays bandoneon. He transcends the instrument and just plays music. The key features of Prieto’s music are lyricism and drama. He writes fine, memorable melodies, then works with the band to create tracks with a very clear dramatic arch, sometimes more than one, engaging and carrying the listener forward… He tells stories and paints pictures with music
