WDM BOLIVIA PETITION
The World Development Movement has just launched a new email action regarding the political crisis in Bolivia and Europe’s ongoing approach to trade negotiations with the Andean regions. We hope that you will be able to distribute this to appropriate networks.
Bolivia’s democratic government is under threat. Take urgent action now to support the Bolivian people. Please email Foreign Office minister Bill Rammell and ask him to show strong public support for the democratic government of Bolivia, and to work to ensure that EU trade policy prioritises sustainable development in Bolivia and does not undermine regional integration across the Andean region.

International Peace Day / CAFOD petition
To mark International Peace Day CAFOD is raising awareness about one of the world’s forgotten crises.
In recent months many of our partners and other human rights defenders, trade unionists, church personnel and community leaders have received death threats and some have been killed. For example in the first four months of 2008 alone, 24 trade unionists were murdered in Colombia. The Colombian government has failed to ensure their safety and government ministers have publicly attacked their work placing them in real danger.
CAFOD believes that the British government should be doing more to press the Colombian authorities to show public support for the defence of human rights.
Please support this action and the work of our partners in Colombia by emailing your MP now.
