National Jazz Piano Competion
I am contacting you on behalf of the Nottingham National Jazz Piano Competition organising committee. The Competition is being held in Nottingham on 25th - 27th July 2008. From the initial entries, just twelve pianists have been selected to perform in the semi final rounds (25th and 26th July) and from these, just four will proceed to the grand final (27th July). The standard of entries was very high and our judges; Dave Newton, Jonathan Gee, Tim Richards and James Harpham have had a difficult time selecting the semi finalists. All the pianists are under thirty years of age with the youngest being just seventeen.
The Competition is being staged by Clement Pianos, Nottingham with the help of generous sponsorship from Blüthner pianos (Leipzig, Germany), EMJazz and Jazz Steps. Mr Stan Tracey OBE is the Honorary President.
The Competition is for solo jazz piano so no drums or bass to hide behind! Each pianist will have to perform to their maximum potential during the twenty minutes they have in the semi finals to impress our judges.
First prize is a Blüthner upright piano worth nearly £16,000. a recording session to make a CD and a National tour for all four finalists to be arranged by EMJazz and Jazz Steps.
Full details are available from www.nnjpc.com or by phoning Mick or Andy Wilson on 0115 9701106.
If there is anyone from your company that would like to join us for any or all of the three days, please let me know as soon as possible so I can reserve your complimentary tickets.
Many thanks,
Mick Wilson
